NEW DELHI: The Centre for Social Development and More than 100 academicians have written to President Ram Nath Kovind Searching for his immediate intervention for Safety SC and ST communities after post-poll violence in West Bengal.
The memorandum said following the announcement due to West Bengal assembly polls,”the state-sponsored activists of both Trinamool Congress in cooperation with the state authorities have targeted the SC/ST community also distribute the violence of killing, looting, raping, and inhabiting their territory.” “Over 11,000 people, the majority of them belonging to SC and ST community were left homeless and above 40,000 affected at the 1627 episodes of brutal attacks,” it stated.
The memorandum stated over 5,000 homes were”demolished” and”inhuman atrocities and outrage” of 142 women and departure of 26 individuals was”enrolled in the suburban regions belonging to SC/ST neighborhood”.
It alleged that both SC and ST neighborhood homes, their little stores were”burnt and weathered” and”that they had been granted dangers of never coming into their houses again”.
“Consequently, over 2,000 people became refugees as Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Assam, Odisha, and Jharkhand,” said the memorandum.
It stated the SC and ST community has endured”burtual violence” and requires assurance of having the ability to reconstruct their homes and appropriate defense and health and other amenities.
“We encourage you to concentrate and rescue the SC and ST community also guarantee social safety from West Bengal,” the memorandum said.
Based on Subhash Pahadiya, Professor in Rajesh Pilot Government College, Lalost at Rajasthan, who’s one of the signatories, everyone can win an election committing atrocities against individuals who might have supported rival celebration isn’t right.
“Taking cognisance of these media accounts, we now signed the memorandum to raise voice against the atrocities which are being done contrary to the SC, ST community in West Bengal from the ruling party following the election outcomes.
That is democracy and everyone can win, however, committing atrocities against somebody because they do not encourage you’re incorrect,” he explained.
Puneet Kumar, Professor, Department of Political Science, Motilal Nehru College, Delhi University, who signed the memorandum, stated they analyzed that the situation on the floor.
“We spoke to sufferers, to our partners on the floor and took into account the information of NHRC and also National Commission for Scheduled Castes to evaluate the situation in the floor.
We’ve encouraged the President to intervene and take action contrary to the ruling party for atrocities performed on individuals who did not support them”
