More than 100 dengue cases in Delhi this year, 72 in August

New Delhi: At least 124 cases of dengue fever have been reported in the national capital this year, according to the Civic report released on Monday.
The number of dengue cases for the period January 1-September 4 is also the highest this year since 2018 when the count has reached 137 in the same duration.
Seventy-two cases were reported in August, according to the report, which is around 58 percent of the total reported cases.
There were no cases recorded in the first four days of September.
Dengue Mosquito larvae breed in clear water and stand, while malaria develops even in dirty water.
Cases of diseases transmitted through vectors are usually reported between July and November, but the period can stretch until mid-December.
According to the Civic report issued by the city corporation last week, 97 cases of dengue fever were recorded until August 28 this year.
At least 124 cases have been reported this year until September 4, the report said.
The distribution of wise cases is January (0), February (2), March (5), April (10) and May (12), June (7) and July (16), he said.
In previous years, cases in the same period were 771 (2016), 829 (2017), 137 (2017), 122 (2019) and 96 (2020), according to the report.
However, there were no deaths reported because of dengue fever in the city until now, he said.
According to the Civic report released on Monday, 57 malaria cases and 32 chikungunya cases have also been reported until August 28 this year.
Malaria, dengue fever and chikungunya accompanied by high fever and therefore, the doctor felt that people might suspect that they had contracted Covid-19.
Civil bodies in Delhi have intensified their steps to prevent the outbreak of transmitted diseases through vectors.
The chairman of the Committee in Delhi Municipal Corporation, Jogi Ram Jain has recently held a meeting with the officials of the Public Health Department of Dengue Prevention, Malaria and Chikungunya.
Jain has directed officials to carry out awareness campaigns in all fields under NDMC.
He also directs them to regularly examine the breeding of mosquito larvae in the place of government buildings, schools, offices, community buildings and pharmacies.
