More than 100 in LKO promised to save lives with organ donations

Lucknow: More than 100 people from Lucknow and surroundings promised to donate organs for their deaths, in an organized conscious camp to mark the day of world organs donations in Kgmu on Friday.
Organized by your organ transplant unit, the camp saw nearly 200 people to know organ donations.
As per organ organization transplanting organs and national networks, around 4.5 lakh people die every year in India because of the availability of organs.
Of these, 50,000 each died of liver disease and the heart while 2.3 lakh died due to kidney problems.
While at least 400 people out of Crore contributed organs in the US and Europe, less than three people per crore doing the same thing in India.
According to officials, KGMU alone has the potential to save 125 lives in a year by taking 100 Multi-Organ Cadacerik Donations (CMOD).
The kgmu organ donation program starts in 2016, until now only 30 cmod has been done.
Organs taken from the corpse can save or increase eight lives because it gives two kidneys, liver, heart, lungs, bone marrow and two corneas.
Kgmu Vice-Chancellor Lt Gen Bipin Puri said, “CMOD program is in our priority list and recently a meeting is also set to encourage it.
However, public awareness is very important to run this program and for the community to advance.”
