Kolkata: Traffic Police Kolkata Special encouragement to examine speeding in the last two weeks – after a dozen fatal accidents this month – revealed a total of 1,614 violations throughout the city.
It averaged 115 cases per day as detected in laser speed weapons, 11 of which were obtained recently during the enhanced covid restriction period.
According to Lalbazar, almost 50% of the total cases reported in the last two weeks have been reported from Bypass Em.
Overall, 886 cases have been reported from four guards serving bypass – Garia, Tiljala, Belowaghata and Ultadang.
“Once lifted restrictions, citizens tend to overestimate because they might believe that the streets are less crowded.
But we want to send a strong message.
We now have 20 laser speed weapons that can take the speed exactly the car far before the place where it is Repaired, “said DC (traffic) Arijit Sinha.
“Special drives not only help us understand how rampant drove, but also have helped identify the path that needs to be monitored,” said an officer from the traffic police officer.
886 from violations of speed has been reported to them, the police also identified stretching between the crossing of Ruby and Kadadaara where larger supervision would be needed.
“Widespread roads and there are not enough vigilance on the border – who will need coordination with the city of Bidhannagar and police recently – make bypass and the connector is most vulnerable to high speed,” said a senior officer in Lalbazar.
“Tiljala guards have recorded a maximum of 341 cases.
Ultakanga has 232 cases.
Bakeaghata traffic protector reported 171 cases and Garar 142 cases.
The South Traffic Guard has reported 266 cases of excess speed.
Obviously from the numbers besides bypass, Jalan Raya Basanti ( Tiljala Guard) and Park Street-Jl Nehru Stretches (South Guard) will need monitoring, especially at night, “the officer said.
Instead, Traffic Guards Bhowanipore and Tollygunge have reported each of 10 and 11 cases.
The police have now proposed setting a dozen cam speed on the stretch between Garar and Ultangga, along with the night drive against the truck.
