Pune: the district on Friday crossed the historical milestone from a dose of crore covishield.
As many as 1.09 crore doses of covid vaccine have been given in the district so far.
From them, a total of one crore is covishield, 8.53 lakh is covaxin and around 60,000 is a sputnik dose v.
Sanjay Deshmukh, assistant director (medical), Pune Circle, said the availability of a significant Covid vaccine helped most of the adult residents protect themselves from transmission.
He said the country had started “Mission Kavach Kundal” from Friday with a special focus on rural areas to accelerate further vaccination.
“We have received more than 2 doses of lakh covishield on Wednesday to maintain momentum to drive,” he said, adding that there were no plans to introduce other vaccines on the drive regardless of Covaxin or Covishield.
A total of 53,617 beneficiaries were vaccinated in Pune District on Friday, the first day of Mission Kavach Kundal.
The government’s week trip to vaccinate 15 lakh people against Covid-19 every day not leaving for early flying.
Less than half (7.32 lakh) appeared on Friday.
