New Delhi: More than one 10-year-old diesel vehicle is 10 years worried by the Delhi government on Saturday, leaving its owner with their retrofitting options with electrical equipment or selling it in other countries after getting a certificate does not mind, officials said.
An officer of the Delhi Senior Department of Transportation said that gasoline vehicles older than 15 years will also be registered in the coming days.
The number of old gasoline vehicles is estimated to be more than 43 lakh, including 32 two-wheeled lakh and 11 lakh cars, he said.
The transportation department has warned that if a 10-year-old diesel vehicle is held or a gasoline vehicle that is older than 15 years found plying on the road, it will be confiscated and sent to print.
The 10-year-old diesel vehicle owner now has the choice to repair them with an electric kit or sell it in other countries after getting a certificate does not mind (NOC) from the Department of Transportation, officials said.
“In accordance with the national direction of the Green Tribunal (NGT), the Delhi government has specialized in 1.01.247 Diesel vehicles completing 10 years on January 1, 2022.
The vehicle owner can register online for NOC if they want to re-register at other states,” the officer said that.
Deregistered diesel vehicles cover around 87,000 cars, and the rest included goods operators, buses and tractors.
The Department of Transportation has mobilized eight electric kit manufacturers to strengthen old gasoline and diesel vehicles, including two and three wheels, which cannot be attached to the road because of the direction of NGT.
This department is also in talks with other electrical kit manufacturers and more will be returned in the coming days, officials said.
Car experts say that retrofitting diesel cars and old gasoline and four wheels will cost RS 3-5 lakh depending on the capacity and range of the battery.
