More than 200mm Mumbai’s swamp rain all night

Mumbai: With 200mm rain during the morning hours flushed the city and IMD issued the highest warning rate until Monday afternoon, Minister of UDDHAV Thackeray’s chairman on Sunday held an emergency meeting with the head of various institutions and instructed them to be vigilant for the next four-five days.
Thackeray also asked the authorities to identify landslide-prone sites and ‘dangerous’ buildings and shift residents to safer places.
He directed SRA, MMRDA and Mhada to provide PAP accommodation for these residents.
He instructed BMC to keep the Stormwater drain department staff with standby and de-watering pumping functional at night too.
The doctor and the covid center medical team and field hospital were also asked to be vigilant.
Even when heavy rains brought a havoc in the city that left 32 people dead in five incidents of landslides, separate electromatic, a four-year-old boy from Nalasopara, Anmol Singh, was feared falling into the open hole.
It is not known whether the lid is opened by Civic staff or several locals to drain rainwater.
The Fire Brigade has launched a search, while two civil teams have fanned themselves in Bilapad, Tulinj, to find the boy.
At 1pm, Sunday, the IMD issued a ‘red’ warning that showed a very heavy rain in isolated places for a 24-hour period for Mumbai.
For the second time in two days, the city saw intense rain activities overnight with 200mm rain recorded in six hours (11: 30-5.30 in the morning).
In the 24 hour period ended at 8:30 a.m.
on Sunday, the Observatory Santacruz IMD recorded 235mm rain and Observatory Colaba, 197mm.
On Sunday morning, Vihar became the second lake whose Monsun overflowed after Tulsi.
Intense rain was recorded above the lake of water catchment areas that supplied water to Mumbai between July 17 and 18 for the first time this season.
Some parts of the city have simplified and chronic flood spots sink until late afternoon.
Both the eastern and western suburbs reported heavy floods with water entering homes in several regions, including Bhandup, Kurla, Nahur, Borivli and Goregaon.
BMC claims that the PU-MPING station is issued 4,423.50 million liters of water until 9am.
The best bus was diverted on 118 routes due to defecation in 34 locations, including Zion, Gandhi Market, Hindma-ATA, Andheri, Chembur and Kurla.
Local train services were suspended during the early hours and were restored at 9 o’clock in the morning on the Western train and 11am at the central train.
Mumbai airport was closed for flights from 12.42 in the morning to 5.24 in the morning, where nine flights were transferred to other airports, said a mial spokesman, added that normal flight operations during the day.
