Chennai: coverage of nadu nadu tamil vaccination up to an average of 3.8 lakh daily doses in October – a 20% decline of 4.8 lakh which was recorded in September despite having a vaccine supply and organizing Mega Weekend Camp.
More than 50% of parents in the state – one of the most vulnerable populations – have not taken the first dose of vaccines.
On Saturday, the state launched the sixth edition of the vaccination camp with the stockpile of 65 lakh doses of the Covid-19 vaccine – including at least four doses of Lakh Covaxin – at 50,000 camps in the hope of encouraging the average coverage for the first and second doses of vaccines.
In the end, only 34% of the vaccine in hand was used when health workers only contributed 22.3 lakh vaccination.
Of almost 13 lakh people came to the second dose of vaccines.
“Most people who want a vaccine to get it.
We now encourage people who are hesitant to take vaccines to come to the center.
This takes a lot of effort and time,” said Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan.
On Saturday morning, more than 57 people were due to the second vaccination dose.
Vaccine coverage in Tamil Nadu continues below the national average of 76% for the first dose and 31% for the second dose.
Until Saturday morning 68% of the country’s population had taken the first dose and 28% had taken the second dose.
In absolute numbers, TN under at least eight other states including, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Gujarat and Rajasthan.
To encourage more people to vaccinate, Chairman of the MK Stalin Minister, Minister, MPs and Senior Officials visited various camps throughout the state.
On Saturday, Stalin visited the camps at Okkiyam ToraiPakkam, Kannagi Nagar and Ezhil Nagar.
Minister of Health Ma Subramanian and DH Dr.
TS Selvavinayagam toured the Central District.
“We have adequate evidence to show that vaccinations help reduce events, hospitalization, and death.
However, some people including those in the vulnerable category have not received themselves vaccinated,” he said.
Of the estimated 1.14 crore senior citizens in the state, only 47.4lakh who have taken at least one dose.
With the country’s relaxing norms, the lack of adequate vaccination coverage can encourage cases, health experts said.
