Nagpur: More than 24,000 train employees from South East Central Railway (SECR) and Central Railway (CRY) will benefit from bonuses related to productivity (PLB).
78 days bonus announced by the Railroad Council on Wednesday.
The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the PLB for the financial year 2020-21 for all train employees who did not meet the requirements, not including RPF personnel.
Central Railway DRM Richa Khare said, “The maximum amount paid per qualified train employee is RS17,951 for 78 days.
This will benefit more than 14,800 employees from Nagpur Central Railway and 1,000 retired employees.
Nationally, around 11.56 Lakh train employees tend to benefit from the decision.
“Khare said PLB payments to qualified train employees were carried out every year before Dussehra and this year the decision would be held before the holidays.
PLB is paid for financial years from 2010-11 to 2019-20.
PLB is expected to motivate employees to work to improve train performance.
The train was the first department effort from the central government where the concept of PLB was introduced in 1979-80.
The main consideration at that time was an important role of the train as infrastructure support in the overall economic performance.
In the overall context of railroad work, it was deemed desirable to introduce the concept of PLB as to the concept of bonus at the Payment of ACT-1965 Bonus Payment.
This scheme imagines reviews every three years.
