Panaji: As the term representative of Chancellor at this time of Goa University, Varun Sahni, ended on August 18, the university has begun the procedure to identify new candidates for posting.

Of the 260 candidates, 23 has been selected and interviews from these candidates will be carried out on August 25.

In June, the governor, who was the Chancellor of the University of Goa, initiated the process of identifying a new candidate for the representative of the Chancellor, by inviting applications from academics who have more than 10 years of experience.
23 Applicants have now been invited to personal interviews with the search committee.
The governor has formed a three member search panel to a short list of candidates for VC posts.
After the interview, Chancellor would choose the newly appointed to the VC post from three to five selected candidates.
If Chancellor does not approve everyone recommended by the Selection Committee, it can call for new recommendations from the same committee, according to the law.
The Three Member Committee includes the Director of CSIR General Dr.
Shekhar Mande, former director Ncert Jagmohan Singh Rajput and Drdo’s Dr.
Satish Reddy.
While Chancellor appointed a member to the selection team, one member was nominated by the state government and the third by the Goa University Executive Board.
“The designated Chancellor must be a well-known academic, with a minimum ten years of experience as a professor in a university system or ten years of experience in an equivalent position in a well-known research and / or academic administrative organization,” The Gu Statute said.
