Washington: More than 260 Sikh has taken refuge in Gurdwara Karte Parwan in Kabul and needs help in their evacuation, the US body Sikh said Sunday.
“There are more than 260 Afghans remaining in Gurudwara Karte Parwan in Kabul including women and more than 50 children.
This includes three newborns with one birth yesterday,” United Sikhs said in a statement.
So far, only India has helped the evacuation of Sikh Afghanistan after the takeover of the country by the Taliban.
“We are communicating with the government in the United States, Canada, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, Tajikistan, Iran and Britain, among others,” United Sikhs said.
“We also communicate with international aid agencies and non-governmental organizations that seek to support rescue efforts in Afghanistan.
In addition, our team communicates with companies that can execute rescue efforts on land in Afghanistan,” he said.
According to United Sikh, 10 kilometers to the international airport in Kabul from Gurdwara Karte Parwan is one of the biggest challenges in rescue efforts.
Some members of the Afghan minority did not succeed in trying to take this trip last week, he said.
“We are ready to go to the airport, but we are afraid of canceling evacuation flights from Kabul Airport.
This is our only chance to bring down women, children, elderly, and babies from the country.
After the current authority captures the entire country.
It will be the end of our community, “said Surbeer Singh from Jalalabad who had been taking refuge in Gurdwara.
