New Delhi: Police Commissioner Delhi Rakesh Asthana on Sunday said more than 27,000 police personnel have been deployed for Republican day security tasks in the national capital and anti-terror steps have been intensified.
These personnel include deputy police commissioners, assistant commissioners and inspectors, sub-inspectors.
Personnel and armed police forces and command, officers, and the Jawan of Central Armed Police forces (CAPF) have also been deployed, he said.
Giving media direction about security arrangements, Asthana said total 27,723 police personnel Delhi, including 71 DCPs, 213 accp and 753 inspectors, had been deployed in the capital for the Republican Day Parade.
They were assisted by 65 companies from CAPFS.
The police chief said the preparation for the day began immediately after last year’s independence day and for the past two months, police Delhi intensified anti-terror steps in coordination with other security institutions.
“Since the last two months, we have intensified our anti-terror steps.

“In the last 15 days, vehicle checks and blockades at different outlocks in parts of the city have been intensified, so if there is a movement, we can easily check and verify,” he emphasized.
Counter-drone technology is used for air space security.
Security in and around the area where Republican Day celebrations will also be guaranteed with the help of Delhi police along with other agents, said Asthana.
Security settings have also been coordinated with officers from institutions that work for the Vista Center project, he added.
For Republican Day arrangements, officers said that in addition to Delhi police internal meetings, coordination meetings between countries were also held to ensure no security hose.
For anti-sabotage checks, in addition to Delhi police teams, other agent teams are also being deployed, he said, adding that around 200 teams worked into it.
For now, through cell monitoring of social media, Delhi police have “proactively” creating awareness among the public.
Through one of the initiated programs, people are made aware of donations and dos’ and to remain vigilant about bags that are not maintained or other objects.

We accept such inputs from the public and then we check them,” he explained.

About traffic arrangements, he said an advisor has been issued which states specific restrictions on the route so that there is no discomfort caused by the general public.
