New Delhi: More than 300 parliamentarian staff tested positive for Covid-19 between January 9 and January 12, according to sources.
Previously until January 9, more than 400 of them had been tested positively during random testing.
“Until now, around 718 parliamentary staff have fallen prey viruses.
Of the total, 204 came from the Sabha’s Rajya Secretariat while the rest came from the Secretariat of Lok Sabha and allied services,” the sources said.
During random testing in the first week of this month, more than 400 staff members were found to be infected.
On Tuesday, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla examined the House Parliament Complex (PHC) to take stock of steps related to health safety considering the recent surge in the Covid-19 case in this country.
Birla visited the Covid-19 testing facility founded in Parliament House Annexe for members of Parliament, officers and staff of Lok Sabha and the Sabha Secretariat of Sabha and reviewing the preparations there.
On Monday, concerned about the wave, Chairman of Rajya Sabha and Speaker Lok Sabha directed the Secretary-General of the two houses to suggest steps for the safe behavior of the upcoming budget session.
“The two chairman of Rajya Sabha and Speaker Lok Sabha have directed the Secretary General to review the adequacy of the Covid Protocol followed during the last winter session in the current situation and submitted a proposal in this first,” the sources said.
