New Delhi: National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has saved more than 300 people from areas affected by flooding in Uttarakhand, said Federal Force on Tuesday.
NDRF has deployed 15 teams in the state, where 16 people have died in the incident related to rain so far.
The Kumaon region of the Bukit country has been devastated by heavy rain, which leads to the razing of the house and leaves a lot trapped in debris.
“The rescue operation is taking place and so far, the team has evacuated more than 300 people stranded from Udham Singh Nagar district and the flood-affected areas,” said a NDRF spokesman.
He said while six teams were deployed at Udham Singh Nagar, two teams were placed in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and one team in Dehradun, Pithoragarh and Haridwar.
“One team and sub-teams have been deployed in Nainital while one sub-team is placed in Almora,” said the spokesman.
The team in Uttarkashi has been placed for “responding to every possibility and ensuring the security of ‘Yatris’ (tourists) from Char Dham Yatra which has been suspended”, he added.
The strength had also used 11 teams in Kerala which was also blocked by heavy rain, resulting in flooding and landslides over the past few days.
“The 24×7 control room in Delhi monitors the situation and is in close coordination with the state authority concerned,” he said.
