New Delhi: In the midst of a surge in the Coronavirus case, more than 300 Delhi police personnel, including the additional police commissioner (Crime Branch), has been tested positive for viruses.
“More than 300 police personnel have been infected.
They include different units of strength and are under quarantine,” said a senior police officer.
The overall strength of Delhi’s police is more than 80,000.
Recently, Police Commissioner Delhi Rakesh Asthana has issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) to prevent the spread of Coronavirus among police personnel.
Because police personnel are frontline workers who carry out their duties in the middle of the public, they are very important they take adequate precautions to protect themselves from Covid’s exposure, he said.
According to SOP, all police personnel must wear face masks, maintain social distance and practice the right hand hygiene when doing their duties.
All police personnel and family members who qualify have not been vaccinated can be motivated to complete the vaccination process.
“Those who have not been vaccinated for medical reasons can be encouraged to seek more medical opinions for vaccination,” he said.
