Noida / Ghaziabad: Amid concerns over the Omicron Covid variant, the Government of GB Nagar was handed over on a list of 3,187 passengers, who reached the district from abroad since November 21.

In Ghaziabad, only 367 out of a total of 2,362 passengers were tested.
On Wednesday, GB Nagar officials blamed the slow rate of testing in some people who returned foreign who were reluctant to undergo a test.
“According to government guidelines, Covid testing of travelers from ‘risk’ countries must be carried out on the eighth day they returned but we recently got orders from Lucknow’s headquarters to test all passengers after they completed seven days who were compulsory quarantine.

Official data revealed that more than 6,350 tourists have come to six districts in the Meerut division with a maximum number of travelers who have the address of GB Nagar.

Meerut, however, has tested 372 of 670 travelers on the list provided by the airport authority.
Meanwhile, Ghaziabad’s health official said they had followed the plan to test every tourist regardless of their travel country from the first day.
