The last survey was conducted in 2017 and is scheduled to take place in 2020.

While the development of instruments, testing, finalization of test items, school samples, etc.
has been carried out by NCERT, the actual administration of tests in sample schools will be carried out by CBSE in collaboration with their respective countries and unity areas.
The survey that will cover the government, the government assisted and private schools will help to assess new learning and learning disorders during the help of pandemic and to take improvement measures.

“It is expected that almost 1.23 lakh schools and 38 lakh students in 733 districts in all 36 states and UTS will be discussed in the NAS survey to be carried out in language, mathematics and EVs for grade 3 and 5; language, mathematics, science & science Social for grade 8, and language, mathematics, IPA, IPS and English for class 10, “said a ministry senior official.

Countries and district reports of cards for both basic and medium levels will be released and placed in the public domain,” added officials.
