Lucknow: Nearly 8,000 more people finished their two dose vaccine courses against Covid-19 on Tuesday, taking a population that was fully immunized to more than 5 lakh.
Overall, 24,236 people, including 10,116 women, were affixed to 83 governments and 27 private vaccination rooms.
While 33% (7,978) people took the second dose, 67% (16,258) received their first shot.
However, the number of inoculation is less than Monday 29,129.
Overall, 63.9% of the total beneficiaries aged 18-45 years, 22.7% went to those in the category of 45-59 years and 10.3% became elderly.
The rest of the beneficiaries are health workers and front lines.
When asked about the reason for a decline in vaccination on Tuesday, Dr.
MK Singh’s immunization officer said it was all dependent on the supply of vaccines and the daily target set by the state government.
“The target for Tuesday is 23,000 vaccinations,” he added.
“Until now, Lucknow is the number one in terms of the total dosage given because the proactive approach adopted by administration.
We will soon manage more mega vaccination camps to accelerate inoculation in rural areas,” he said.
A total of 21.8 doses of lakh have been given in the Lucknow district so far in six months since the commencement of the campaign.
Beneficiaries cover more than 11.5 lakh people who have taken the first dose and 5.1 lakh who have received the two doses.
Lucknow’s adult population is around 36 lakh.
Meanwhile, only one case of Covid-19 was recorded in the city for the third day in a row, while three patients recovered, reduced active cases to 59.
The current level of transmission was one of the lowest since the plague of Pandemi in March last year.
