‘More than 600 CNG stations will be arranged in 5 years

Thiruvananthapuram: A total of 615 compressed natural gas filling stations are expected to operate in the state in 2026, CM Pinarayi Vijayan said in the assembly on Tuesday.
Reply by MLA KN, the Minister of LSG and Excise MV Govindan who answered on behalf of CM, said that the oil and natural gas regulatoral council had entrusted Indian oil-Adani Gas Pvt Ltd with the distribution of natural gas in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode , Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.
The necessary arrangements have been made in all these districts to ensure that natural gas is supplied to the company for distribution in these districts.
He said that at this time, there were 10 CNG stations each in Ernakulam and Thrissur, four in Kozhikode, three in Malappuram and each in Palakkad and Kannur.
The Board has entrusted the ATLANTIC GULF and PACIFIC (AG & P) company for the distribution of natural gas in the Thiruvananthapuram district, Kollam and Alappuzha which is not covered by Gail Pipes.
Both companies have initiated important steps to supply gas connections for domestic and industrial purposes in 11 districts under the city gas distribution project.
At present, 3,761 domestic connections have been provided and in 2022, as many as 54,000 gas connections for domestic purposes will be completed, he said.
The Gail Kochi-Koottanad-Bengulanad-Manguluru pipe project has provided Fillip for the development of the state industry, he said.
