New Delhi: More than 9.3 lakh children who are very acute (SAM) between six months and six years have been identified in the country until November.
Of this number, Uttar Pradesh accounted for more than 4 lakh children like that.
This data was distributed by the ministry of women and children in response to questions in Rajya Sabha.
Minister of WCD Smriti Irani said “according to the ICDS-RRS portal (as on November 30, 2020), 9.27,606 children who lack acute nutrition (SAM) (6 months 6 years) have been identified in the country, where 3, 98,359 Derived from the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Under integrated child development services, additional nutrition is given to children including severe malnutrition children in the age group 6 months – 6 years.
“He further shared that under the leading program of Poshan Abhiyan, What aims to reduce malnutrition, the ministry has released Rs 5,312.7 Crore to the state and the United States in 2017-18-18-21, where RS 2,985.5 Crore has been utilized until March 31.
Under Poshan Abhiya, the target is to bring down children under 6 years from 38.4% to 25% in 2022.
In other questions related to the subject of malnutrition, the sharing ministry that according to the National Family Health Survey 4 (2015-16 ), the prevalence of malnutrition among women is 22.9% compared to men (20.2%), which is an increase from the level of 35.5% and 34.2% respectively reported in NFHS-3 (2005-06) , To ensure consistent and accurate critical data recording and reporting programs, the Ministry has begun efforts to collect quality data through ICT-based applications poshan tracker for real-time monitoring and providing real-time information related to various parameters of service giving and lack of nutritional Mission Mission 2.0.
