Ranchi: The State Prison Administration has vaccinated more than 90% of prisoners, which includes 100% vaccination of all underbraphies and convicted Birsa Munda Central Jai, IG (prison) Manoj Kumar said on Thursday.
In addition, there are no positive cases in prison.
“I was told a few more days that the vaccination rate was 90%.
Now, that number must be 100%,” Kumar said.
There are around 21,500 prisoners in 30 prisons, including five central prisons, in the state, although the figure continues to change when new and undistrial inmates arrive every day.
“The new arrival is kept under quarantine for at least 14 days,” Kumar said, adding that at this time, there was no Covid case in prison.
In Birsa Munda’s center prison in Ranchi, the authorities said all nearly 3,700 inmates, which included prisoners, undertrials, and prison staff had received both doses.
However, several new experiments have come and they are stored under quarantine before sending them to the ward.
Administration will hold special camps at least once a month to vaccinate newcomers.
The authorities also said that Birsa prison had not recorded a single Covid case in the last three months.
During the first wave of Covid-19 years ago, there were 270 Covid cases and around 40 during the second wave earlier this year, they said.
Crowded density problems, however, are still in prison, which is filled outside their capacity.
In Chatra, Gumla, Lahtar, Garwah and Rajmahal, prisons were filled with a capacity of more than 200%.
The prison administration said he was planning to shift prisoners from crowded prisons to new prisons in Barhi and Nagar Utari.
Some have been shifted to Barhi.
The administration also provides parole to several prisoners to reduce the number of prisoners.
It also prepares a list of 185 prisoners whose cases will be reviewed at a meeting led by the Head of Minister of Hemant Soren for their release immediately.
