Awakening Covid-19 this summer and a national debate on the requirements of the vaccine has created a situation full of nation’s first responders who are dying in larger quantities but was pushed back mandate.
This is in stark contrast from the initial launch of the vaccine when first responders be prioritized for shooting.
The mandate affects tens of thousands of police officers, firefighters and others on the front lines throughout the country, many of whom refuse the vaccine.
That happened despite the consequences mandates that range from weekly testing for the suspension to termination – although the virus is now the leading cause of death line-of-duty US law enforcement.
According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, 132 members of law enforcement agencies are known to have died Covid-19 in 2021.
In Florida alone last month, six people affiliated with law enforcement died over a period of 10 days.
Apart from death, police officers and other first responders are among those who are most hesitant to get the vaccine and cases they continue to grow.
There are no national statistics that show the rate of vaccination for the entire population of first responders America but individual police and fire departments across the country report is far below the national rate of 74% of adults have at least one dose.
On the other hand, a major infectious disease expert said he believes the US government that the administration of the vaccine booster shot Covid-19 will be from 20 September to the Americans who received a dose of Pfizer, while Moderna can end a few weeks later.
Dr Anthony Fauci told CBS ‘ “Face the Nation” Sunday that it was still a Biden administration’s plan “in some respects” to start the third dose week 20 of September, pending approval by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Administration hopes that Pfizer and shooting moderna booster will be launched at that time.
But Fauci said it was “inconceivable” that’s modern, there may be “at most a few weeks, a delay of a few weeks, if there is,” while the company provided more data to the FDA in efficacy booster.
President Joe Biden on August 18, touting booster as protection against variant Delta more transmit the virus, and said Americans should consider getting extra punch eight months after the second dose.
