Hyderabad: When the city rolled under fear of a disease transmitted by vectors, especially dengue because the bigger mosquito population, the larger Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHM) project has found that with the emergence of the rainy season, there is a gradual increase in the presence of Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes in the city.
As part of the project, the moscow trap, which captures, identifies species, and provides real-time data – was established in all six larger six zones of Hyderabad in Nacharam, Malakpet, Langar Houz, Yousufguda, Moosapet and Begumpet.
These traps are installed mainly near the body of the water and park where mosquito density is higher than other regions.
Interesting Moscow trap and capture mosquitoes from a radius of 100 m.
“We assess data collected from Moskeet Traps every week but when the problem is rampant, we collect data every day.
At present we see a gradual increase in Aedes mosquitoes,” said Dr.
Rambabu, head of Entomology, GHMC.
TI experts spoke by saying that Culex and Anopheles mosquitoes, Aedes breed in stagnant and dirty waters, and they were known as a problematic species that transmitted dengue fever or chikungunya in humans.
“Aedes is a hauled fever infection carrier.
They are active mosquitoes of the day, and they have the ability to breed even in a very small water pool.
So, sporadic rain here and there will also be an opportunity for Aedes mosquitoes to breed properly, “Dr.
Chelmala Srinasulu from the Ministry of Zoology, Osmania University.
So far, this year, GHMC has recorded 56 suspected dengue cases where two cases were recorded in June and eight cases were recorded in July.
