Hyderabad: In what can send ring alarm bells, Hyderabad not only has the highest Dengue Caseload in the state with 594 of the 1,811 total cases, it also has a 16-blood-blooded mosquito house index in the state.
The 16-house index shows that dengue mosquitoes are present in 16 of every hundred residences.
This is the highest value for the mosquito house index since 2018, officials said.
The Department of Health’s home index survey in the region with a high number of cases also shows that the mosquito container index at age 19 is the highest in the state.
“The container index reveals the number of household places of common mosquito breeding.
The index 15 means that the presence of larvae is found in 15 houses for every 100 buildings,” explained the official.
Dengue House and the container index more than 10 shows a sensitive scenario with a higher number of cases.
Along with Hyderabad, Mahbubnagar, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Rangeddy and Peddapalli have a house index value higher than 10.
Officials say stagnation of water in the household is a breeding place for mosquitoes.
Mosquitoes also breed with open overhead tanks and septic tanks and flower pots and liquor bottles thrown away.
“Dengue mosquitoes thrive on plastic objects that are not used, tires and bottles of beer thrown on the roof,” said an official.

Dr.
