Pune: Survey of 3,538 people from the city, city and village Pune, Kolhapur, Solapur, Satara and Sangli have found that 59.3% of them believe Covid pandemic is now, because of a drop in the case today.
Survey of Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) Covid-19 – was carried out to determine the level of public awareness and perception of the Pandemic – conducted by the Covid-19 Information Communication Committee (IEC), which was formed by the Pune Division Commissioner.
The five districts surveyed were part of the Pune division.
“One of the main findings of this survey is that 59% of people feel the pandemic is completed, which is worrying,” said Mallinath Kalshetti, Head of the IEC Committee.
“Such perceptions can cause them to stop after the appropriate behavior of Covid.
As part of the IEC campaign, we have compiled a suitable message to be disseminated among the residents of these districts – on the use of masks, hand laundering, and vaccinations.” He said , Another finding is that people still rely on the information generated during the first Covid wave, with newer insights not completely absorbed.
Nearly 3,390 of 3,450 were able to answer questions in this category (98%) tofu spread Covid through droplets, but 839 of 2,613 respondents (32%) did not know the droplets can be in the air and can travel distance.
“So we need to have sufficient ventilation and open air arrangements while fighting the spread,” Praveenkumar Pawar, Risk Government Specialist from UNICEF, which is part of the survey, to TOI.
The IEC Committee study is supported by UNICEF.
A small portion of respondents – 1% to 2% – also think Covid can spread through mosquito bites, unclean water, contaminated food, sweat or blood transfusion.
Many (43% or 772 of the 1,790 answered) also said they have found examples of discrimination against those infected with Covid-19.
Surveyors also looked for vaccine doubts, which they found at 12.3% of respondents.
At least 3.3% said they were not ready to get themselves vaccinated.
The reason they varied from fear, doubts about shots, lack of identification and lack of knowledge about how to make themselves registered for Jab.
