Hyderabad: About 70 percent of Covid-19 patients in the bed of oxygen or ICU in Telangana are not vaccinated or have not taken the second dose, the health authority said on Friday.
Officials said this scenario is similar in government and health facilities, underlining how everyone needs to take Jab to ward off severe Covid infection.
As on Friday, 809 patients were on the bed of oxygen and 492 in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) throughout the state.
“We can easily say that around 7 or 8 out of 10 patients in the ICU are not vaccinated or some vaccinated,” said a senior doctor from the Telangana Institute of Science and Research (TIMS).
Authorities say these patients may not register or reject vaccination after the original list of recipients is prepared.
In many cases, patients took the first jab and refused to take the second quoted health complications.
The doctor said the number of patients who needed hospitalization or oxygen support could rise if the pandemic spiritu beyond control or more virus mutations occurred.
Dr.
Sambit Sahu, Medical Director, KimS Hospital, said, “Mostly, those who have comorbidity are developing severe symptoms and are increasingly being hospitalized.
They are fully vaccinated, no disease severity.” He added, “More than 10 days, around 70% of patients in the ICU were not vaccinated or some vaccinated.” Dr.
Pradeep Panigrahi, medical director, SLG Hospital, said three in four patients in the ICU were not vaccinated or some vaccinated.
Doctors say many cases are breakthrough infections, possible reasons for not much need oxygen support.
B Nagender, Supervisor, Ogh said, “We have 30 patients suspected, but do not have statistics about vaccination status.
