Most: landslides and floods kill at least five in Raigad

Raigad: At least five people were killed in a landslide that occurred in Raigad Maharashtra Regency caused by unrelenting rain which destroyed the region for the past 24 hours.
“Five people were killed in Raigad Regency because landslides and floods,” Nidhi Chaudhary, Collector branch, Raigad informed Friday.
He previously told that 15 people were saved from landslides.
At least 30 people are still trapped inside, he said before.
Four landslides have been reported in Raigad because of continuous rain, which has led to a blocked road.
The water doused conducted a delayed rescue operation by the national disaster response style, district collectors received information last night.
Meanwhile, Guardian Minister Raigad Aditi Tatkare told me that the Maharashtra government had sought assistance from the central government and soldiers to save people trapped in advantages.
“The NDRF team has difficulty reaching out the villages affected because the streets sink under water,” the official said.
Earlier on Thursday, Chairman of Maharashtra Minister Uddhav Thackeray held an emergency meeting to take stock of flood situations in Ratnagiri and Raigad in the state, due to heavy rain which had beaten the region for the past 24 hours.
Thackrey directed the disaster management unit and the department concerned to remain vigilant and started the rescue operation immediately, told the office of the Minister of Chief.
Two NDRF teams rushed to the Khed and Chiplun Ratnagiri area to overcome the critical situation due to tide and heavy rain.
Two more teams have been mobilized for each rescue operation for Khed in Ratnagiri and for Mahad in Raigad, from Pune headquarters.
The Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) has issued a red and orange warning for several regions in the state that will receive heavy rainfall in the next three days.
