Mangaluru: Many of the covid-19 patients who underwent treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) were not fully vaccinated when they were first received, say doctors in Mangaluru.
At the Wenlock District Hospital, for example, 10 out of 12 patients in the ICU were not affixed twice.
Dr Sharaath Babu, a lung specialist at the hospital, told TOI that the patient has been able to fight against this disease for a longer duration, in nearly a month, because of better treatment strategies.
“Most of the people fall ill now are those who are not immunized.
We see very few people who are vaccinated elderly people who are sick.
Most of the elderly patients who are in care are comorbid,” he said.
Dr.
Babu added: “Vaccination does not mean that someone will not fall ill.
But when we are at the end of the second wave barrier, we certainly can say that the severity of the disease among young patients who are vaccinated less.
In the past month, we have observed that the vaccine Significantly effective in protecting people from severe diseases and deaths.
With a test level of tests decreasing over the past week, daily acceptance has dropped under five.
“Dr.
Farhan Fazal, a consultant for infectious diseases at the KMC hospital, has noticed a similar trend.
He said that the number of people who were fully vaccinated in the ICU was much lower than patients who had not been penetrated.
“Kaseload ICU has decreased, while our understanding of the disease has increased.
Therefore, we can better manage illness,” he explained.
The patient spent 4 months at Hospta 45 years old who had a severe Covid spent almost four months in the Wenlock hospital intensive care unit.
“Because the patient suffered from post-covid sequeles and needed external oxygen support, he had shifted to the Covid medical health center,” said Dr.
Babu.
He was received on 15 May.
