Mumbai: There are concerns that develop that quarantine norms are not followed by seriousness even though the Covid Country task force emphasizes that the isolation protocol should not be compromised even if the case decreases.
Recently, the wife of a patient who positively Covid accompanied her husband to the hospital to make him acknowledge and implement the initial formality.
Likewise, a man who covid-positive accompanied his father, also positive, to make him accepted in private facilities.
Dr.
Vasant Nagvestar, a member of the State Task Force, said examples of striking violations of the Covid protocol are now regularly visible.
“I myself.
It’s important that positive contact with positive patients with themselves and tested,” he said.
Even if contact is vaccinated, they must follow the quarantine protocol, he added.
Quarantine rules need high-risk contacts to stay at home for 14 days.
The corporation tests them between 5 and 7 days.
For each positive case, the state says that 15-20 contacts must be tracked.
Dr.
Bhupendra Patil, a health medical officer for M West Ward, said the seriousness around quarantine must be reduced.
“We conducted contact and reached them for testing too, but many undergo the test itself.
We told them to stay in the room for 14 days,” he said.
Other ward officers said many even continued work, especially those who live in slums, before finishing 14 days.
Dr.
Shashank Joshi, a member of the task force, said asymptomatic contacts must also be strictly following quarantine norms.
“They must be tested and continued the activity only after all 14 days.
Mumbai continues to see 200-300 cases every day, which means the virus activity is not lost,” he said.
The city, compacted solid and hub for migration, needs to remain vigilant, he reminded.
Outside Mumbai, district level officials also found it challenging to keep people at home.
An official from Jalgaon acknowledged that contact search was not carried out with the same vigil but health officials did visit households to tell them about norms.
Dr Avinash Aher, Washim District Health Officer, said they would selectively send contacts to institutional quarantine.
