Pune: Minister of Health Maharashtra Rajesh Tope on Friday said 22 districts behind the average country gave the first dose of 90% and the second shot 65% had been told to encourage inoculation against Covid-19 two weeks.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting on Thursday.
“We have directed collectors and commissioners to use all possible methods to ensure that there is a maximum coverage in the next 15 days,” he told toi.
State health officials stated that the average daily vaccination in this country has dropped to 5-6 lakh now.
“The state wants to focus on increasing the percentage of vaccination because the daily average has been dipped.
We have tried asking people and home visits.
The districts must first cross the country average and then exceed the national average,” Tope said.
The worst vaccination coverage in Nandurfrain, Beed, and Nanded District.
Less than 77% of the target population has been given the first dose until now.
Other districts that have the first dose range below 80% are Jalgaon, Buldhana, Latur, Yavatmal, Parbhani, Hingoli and Dhule.
Officials claimed that this district was given sufficient dose.
State immunization officers S Desai said Nandurbar, Bed and Nanded districts continued to lag behind the initial drive of Covid vaccination, while several others increased their vaccine coverage with time.
He said the local authorities had been directed to ensure that they maximized the drive and convinced people to take a vaccine.
Nandurbar Collector Manha Khatri on Friday quoted the migration out as a reason for the poor district show.
He said the revised electoral roll has registered 12 LAKH beneficiaries and almost 11 lakh of them have been inoculated.
“We strive to overcome migration problems and beneficiaries,” he said, adding that home-to-home journey and camps in a hilly field were being carried out.
Ahmednagar Collector R Bhosale said he had sounded a politician to drive vaccination.
“Our coverage is around 83%.
Some drives will be held to reach the average state of 90%,” he said.
