New Delhi: Efforts to Hailing Institute of Nehru Mountaineering (NIM), Uttarkashi in preparing for mountain climbers, Defense Minister Union Rajnath Singh on Thursday said ethics in mountaineering by protecting nature.
Overcoming the Annual Executive Board Meeting of NIM, Uttarkashi, through video conferencing, the Union Minister said the mountain climbing expedition and allied activities not only signaled physical durability but also mental determination and enthusiasm.
“The dominance of men was previously observed in this field but now women’s participation can also be seen.
Divyang’s friends also participated in the mountain climbing,” he said and referred to Arunima Sinha, who was the first person to amputate MT Everest.
“Ethics at mountain climbing teaches us how to protect nature,” he said Singh extended his best hope for NIM for the next expedition to Manaslu, the highest eighth mountain in the world at 8,163 meters.
“Nim, Uttarkashi was founded in 1965.
The Institute played a big role in bringing victory to the country in the field of mountain ascent,” he said.
