Lucknow: Mounting Goel took over as the new Director General of Police (DGP), replacing Hitesh Chandra Awasthy, who retired from service on Friday.
Goel, the 1987 Batch IPS officer, is in the Central Deputation, serves as ADG, the Security Force (BSF) border before taking over the top post in the police.
He has served as an ADG, law and order, during Muzaffarnagar riots in 2013.
The police chief after landing from New Delhi at Amusi Airport in Lucknow ran to the Temple of Hanuman Setu and then met with the minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath.
Then, according to the protocol, the honorary guard was given to the police chaos at Lucknow opposite the police commissioner on Jalan Shahnajaf.
Cavalcade officer then marched to the DGP headquarters and he took over from Kumar Prashant, ADG, Law and Order.
Assuming the cost, Goel in his first interaction with the media said that ‘crime control’ was the main job of the police and it was impossible without public support.
He further sets pressure on technology and adds that it is very important and we must use it for a better police.
“The interaction with the public holds the key to the police and a better gap between the police and the public must decrease,” Goel said.
Goel added that small crimes should not be ignored while more officers must go to the fields.
“Keeping the law and order is a challenge but I have strong confidence that our team will do it,” Top Police said.
