MPCB began monitoring pollution on CSTP

Chandrapur: Regional Office of the Maharashtra Pollution Control Agency (MPCB) here has started air quality monitoring to measure pollution distributed by the Super Thermal Power Station (CSTP) chandrapur.
The Minister Guardian Vijay Wadettiwar has ordered MPCB to investigate pollution caused by CSTP and take action to curb air emissions.
Wadettiwar, when reviewing environmental degradation in the city of Chandrapur and its surroundings, has blamed CSTP for high pollution levels.
He collected Mega power plants, after installing a 2920MW capacity, did not take steps to curb pollution even though there was a command of the Supreme Court.
Expressing concerns over increased diseases such as skin diseases, asthma, cancer and other respiratory disorders, they have directed the MPCB Regional Office to examine pollution caused by CSTP and take appropriate action to control the situation.
After Wadettiwar’s direction, MPCB began monitoring air pollution caused by Mega power plants from Monday.
“We have started a 74 hour sustainable monitoring at the CSTP place.
The eight operator team, led by two sub-regional (SRO) departments, is monitoring emissions from the factory,” Ashok Kare said, MPCB regional officials.
He told me that the three air quality monitoring machines were deployed at the CSTP place to measure pollution from plants.
The first ambient air quality monitoring machine has been placed in the Effluen-IV processing plant in unit 8 and 9, while the second has been placed near the train cabin located close to the Tukum City area.
The third engine has been placed near the Effluent-II plant treatment in unit 3 to 7, Kare said.
He also claims that SRO Ajit Patil and Bahadure leads monitoring operations and has been placed on CSTP for three days for the task.
