MPCB Inspection Nail Pollution in Vimla Railway Siding

Chandrapur: Examination by Sub-Regional Officers of the Maharashtra Pollution Control Agency (MPCB) in Vimla Infrastructure (India) Pvt Ltd Siding in Tadali MIDC here on Thursday revealed several violations of pollution norms.
Officers found many facts that strengthen the alleged high pollution caused by the outskirts of the train in the complaints submitted by the SanStha Sanjeahan Samjik NGO.
The discovery of several suspicious stacks of ‘minerals such as shaken coal’ in the sides has also validated claims of complainants about mixing unwanted materials into the coal transported from that place.
The inspection report states that there are three train tracks and five train platforms, used mainly for coal transportation and iron ore.
At present, four platforms (no.
2, 3, 4 and 5) are being used and a total of 16,000 metric tons of coal is filled there.
Most coal stocks come from WCl (via train), while outside material is carried by Chaddha transportation, and Sapra transportation.
One or two rakes of coal trains are loaded and transported from the Daily siding.
The inspection report states that most of the coal stacks are put in open and have no arrangements for dust oppression.

Inspection also revealed that there was a thick layer of dust on the path of the approach and most trucks found there without tarpaulin to cover the material transported.
