Chandrapur: The Regional Office of the Maharashtra Pollution Control Agency (MPCB) here has begun to investigate into the complaints submitted by Sanjeahan Paradise Samjik Sanshtha (SPSS) against Vimla Infrastructure (India) Private Limited, a private railway on the outskirts of Tadali MIDC.
NGOs, which work for environmental protection, have accused of violating the norm of approval from the pollution control department and causes high pollution in the area by the side of the private train.
In his complaint, SPSS President Rajesh Bele has claimed that Vimla infrastructure provides a private platform for coal transportation to various companies that take their coal from West West Mine (WCl).
He has accused Foulplay claiming that coal brought by the company to the side of the train mixed with charcoal and cover layer of a coal mine which leads to high pollution.
Quoting increasing health problems such as heart disease, asthma, tuberculosis, cancer and diseases related to the skin, eyes, and respiratory problems in the area, Belle has demanded investigations through pollution originating from speeches.
Belle has shown that heavy transportation vehicles that stab into the Siding of the Vimla train cause dust pollution to lead to the destruction of plants in the surrounding area.
He also accused the violation of pollution standard norms set by MPCB on the side.
“It is mandatory to sprinkle water on coal shares on the side and the streets around used for coal transportation to and from the side,” Belle said.
Bele has sent photos and videos that strengthen their claims and demand through investigations and actions against Vimla train management siding.
The complaint copy has been forwarded to the district collector and also the Chief Engineer Power Thermal Station Super Chandrapur.
A senior officer at MPCB confirmed the reception of complaints.
He claimed that they had sent an officer to investigate charges and actions to be taken based on his report.
