Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has announced cash assistance each RS 5,000 to around 3,000 Vinayaka idol makers in the state.
Minister of Tamil Minister Nadu MK Stalin made an announcement at the State Assembly on Tuesday, responding to questions relating to the restrictions of Covid-19 and the prohibition of public celebrations Vinayaka Chathurthi in the state.
He said the government provided assistance from Rs 5,000 to around 12,000 potter who could not do their work during the rainy season.
“Among them, around 3,000 made Vinayaka idols during the festival season.
They have lost their livelihoods, because celebrating festivals in public places are prohibited in the past two years.
Considering this, the government will provide additional assistance to these workers together with Monsun.
This year’s relief, “Stalin said.
“Because of the relaxation announced for the celebration of the Onam festival and Bakri Eid in Kerala, the positive Covid-19 case increased in that condition.
Tamil Nadu has not fully emerged from Covid-19 infection.
The case is reported in an isolated place with 50 cases increasing or decreases every day .
Given the public safety and well-being in mind, the prohibition of all religious festivals enacted until September 15.
It will also apply to Vinayaka Chathurthi, “Stalin said in the Assembly.
“There is a ban on only to celebrate religious festivals such as Vinayaka Chathurthi in public places.
Individuals can still celebrate in their homes by following the Covid-19 protocol,” he added.
The Minister of Chief replied to BJP MLA, the request of Nainar Nagendran that the state allowed Vinayaka’s idol procession such as other countries such as Maharashtra, Karnataka and Puduchery.
Stalin said restrictions were announced to avoid public meetings until September 30 in accordance with instructions from the Ministry of Houses Union.
He said even the court had highlighted the same thing.
