Islamabad: Pakistani army spokesman General General People’s Babar Iftikhar claimed on Saturday that India’s investment in Afghanistan seems to be “sinking” and added that “Indian propaganda” against Pakistan and its role in the peace process “did not get traction”.
New Delhi and Kabul shared economic and trade links that were deepened although there was no uncertainty about achieving political settlement of lingering conflict in Afghanistan.
India has invested more than $ 3 billion in reconstruction work and assistance since 2001 when the US-led troops rode a Taliban from Kabul.
Delhi still supports the government of President of Ashraf Ghani.
In an interview with local TV channels, the IFTIKHAR gene said that “spoilers” (indirect references to India) tried to hold Pakistan responsible for the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan requested by the announcement of the withdrawal of US troops and NATO from the ripped state war.
“But there is no truth is these accusations.
The world is very aware that Pakistan has made every effort to resolve the issue of Afghanistan, without violence and according to the wishes of the people of Afghanistan,” a military spokesman said.
“Pakistan is still a facilitator of this peace process and is not guarantor,” said General.
Responding to the question of whether the US must remove itself completely from the region, he said there was only one requirement from the US: responsible withdrawal from Afghanistan.
“What it means to go out will happen after the transition.
But it happens a little quick.
I think it has been said with a lot of clarity that there are no questions or needs base for the US,” said Gen Iftikhar, added that regional power was able to resolve the problem.
“So, you say Americans are not needed, they can leave?” Interviewer asks.
“No, I don’t think it’s needed,” he replied.
When asked about perceptions in Afghanistan that the Taliban would be in power, he said: “We need to understand that if it happens, it will be an Afghanistan decision.
No one will dictate this decision from outside.”
