Islamabad: Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Friday that the state would continue to play a constructive role in supporting efforts to promote peace and stability in Afghanistan struck by disputes.
Qureshi on Friday held a telephone conversation with the Secretary General of Antonio Gutres UN and the two leaders exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He said that it was important for the international community to remain involved with Afghanistan, including by supporting the socio-economic needs and humanity of the people of Afghanistan.
Foreign Minister appreciated the UN contribution to overcoming the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.
The head of the UN Guterres expressed gratitude for the role of Pakistan in facilitating the work and humanitarian mission of the United Nations entity in Afghanistan.
He sought Pakistani support in that matter.
Foreign Minister assured Guterres from all possible support for the United Nations in fulfilling his mandate.
He highlighted the facilitation of creatures provided by Pakistan to the international community in evacuation and relocation efforts.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated that Pakistan would continue to help the United Nations in all possible ways.
Separately, Qureshi received a call from Dominic Raab, Foreign Secretary, Commonwealth & Development Affairs and the First Secretary of the United Kingdom.
The appearance exchanged in the latest developments in Afghanistan.
Noting that Pakistan tightly followed a growing situation, the foreign minister condemned a terrorist attack near Kabul airport where so many valuable lives were missing.
Two suicide bombers and gunmen attacked the crowd of Afghans flock to the airport with Hamid Karzai International in Kabul on Thursday, killing more than 100 people, including 13 US troops.
Afghanistan Afghan Afghan State, nicknamed the Islamic State of Khorasan or Isis-K, claimed responsibility for the attack.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that safety, security, stability and protection of all the rights of all Afghans, added that inclusive political settlement was the best way forward.
Repeating Pakistani’s commitment to regional peace, he said that Pakistan is related to regional and international partners.
In this context, he emphasized how important peace and stable Afghanistan for Pakistan and regions.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs added that it was important for the world community to stay involved with Afghanistan to stabilize the situation and assistance of the Afghans of the economy and continue to provide humanitarian assistance.
He also highlighted Pakistani efforts in facilitating the evacuation of diplomatic personnel and international organizational staff and others, including British citizens, and convincing Pakistani support in this context.
In the bilateral context, foreign minister with concerns over Pakistani retention on the ‘red list’ for travel prohibitions.
He noted that the Covid-19 situation in Pakistan has increased and urged the British government to reconsider his decision.
British foreign secretaries with the British perspective on developments in Afghanistan and thanks are submitted for Pakistan’s support and facilitation in evacuation efforts.
