Chennai: The Chair of the Minister M K Stalin on Wednesday announced that Tamil Nadu slum cleaning board arranged to improve the lives of the poor will be known as the Urban Habitat Board of Tamil Nadu.

He built thousands of plots for the poor who were valued by the former Union Minister of Jagjivan, lovingly called Babuji.
Babuji also expressed his desire to see such a scheme followed by all countries.
“So far, the slum cleaning boards have effectively extended the service,” Stalin said.
Replacing the name of the council is being carried out by lifting the livelihoods of people living in huts and increasing their living standards, not only removing the hut, the minister said.
The slum cleaning council, a pioneer in providing housing to Urban Poor, has programed 9.53 lakh pavee and individuals under housing for all schemes for slums / poor families before 2030.
The council implements a variety of housing schemes, including the In-Situ Plot Scheme, Integrated Townships, Construction of Houses by Beneficiaries and Reconstruction of Dilapidies.
