Only nine universities reached the top 200 list last year.
Eight of them are displayed in the top 100 ranked.
This year, 16 universities have succeeded in reaching the top 200 with the same eight universities with the top 100 ranked.
While only a few universities in urban areas that continue to display in ranks every year, universities on the outskirts and new ones have not shown much progress for many years.
When asked for reasons, B L Siva Kumar, Principal, Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science, said most of the universities were shown in the ranking list of more than 20 years.
“Higher education must do academically well with good placements and better infrastructure.
It may not be possible for all new universities to build infrastructure,” he said.
Representatives of Chancellor, meanwhile, asked universities that could not reach the top 200 list to make special efforts.
“We are embarrassing college to motivate them to increase their rank and other people to achieve rankings.” The University of Bharathiar has won 14th among Indian universities, ranked 22nd in the overall category and 23 in the research category.
