NASHIK: Electric Power Distribution Company Maharashtra Limited (MSEDCL) has a power supply disconnected to 3,990 consumers in the district after they failed to clean up their pending contributions from Rs 120 Crore.
During Diwali, MSEDCL has stopped taking action against default, but the officials launched the drain disconnection after a five-day gap where the action was taken.
More than 60% of the connections are restored after consumers settled their contributions by paying extraordinary amounts along with penalty and costs in addition to the outstanding basis.
A senior official from MSEDCL said there were around 6.8 lakh consumers in the district owe the power utility of Rs 121 Crore – most of which were housing consumers.
“Industrial consumers have a higher bill, but they generally settle them a total of two months and similar is the case of commercial consumers who need to resolve contributions to maintain their business and trade,” he said.
“There are consumer housing that did not settle their contributions regardless of our intervention and appeal even after three months because the action was taken,” he added.
The official also shows that actions against commercial industries and consumers are also being carried out.
“This action is targeted at all types of consumers.
So far, the power supply up to 3.990 has jerked and acting against the rest of the consumers is also being carried out,” said the official.
“There is no action committed against agricultural consumers like now.
