Mumbai: strike by employees of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) continued on Friday on 33 depots of a total of 250 depots, mostly in the Nashik Division, Ahmednagar and Aurangabad from the state bus company.
While the driver and conductor were not ply buses and commuters were beaten badly on 33 of these depots, the bus service in the other depot was continued this morning.
A BJP Union along with a few other unions supported the second day of the strike called to demand MSRTC merger with the state government.
One day before, the country’s bus driver, conductor and other staff strike flashes in 182 depots of buses in Maharashtra, paralyzing the operation of nearly 10,000 MSRTC AC and non-AC buses and left a number of commuters in trouble.
Minister of Transportation of State and Chair of the MSRTC Anil Paratab announced a rise for dear allowances and housing rentals at night after several workers returned to work on Friday morning.
It includes staff in Mumbai and Thane who did not participate in the second day protest on Friday, the source added.
