Chennai: Y Foundation Research MS S Swaminathan (MSSRF) has launched the Hema Ramachandran fellowship for female scientists to improve gender equality in scientific research.
Madhura Swaminathan, Chair, MSSRF, signed MoU with GP Ramachandran, a final partner Hema Ramachandran scientist, who has instituted endowmen in MSSRF entitled ‘The Hema Ramachandran Fellowship for female scientists to commemorate its scientific contribution and pave the way for women scientists to return to research career.
Hema Ramachandran, which is an experimental scientist at the Raman Research Institute, atomic Research Center Bengaluru and Bhabha (Barc), exhaled it on November 24, 2020 at the age of 58 years, after a prolonged illness.
“This agreement is included in the spirit of service to mankind” said G P Ramachandran.
“This will help in increasing gender equality in scientific research,” he said after signing the MoU.
“This post-doctoral fellowship will encourage female scientists to take research work in one of the scientific fields of the foundation” said Madhura Swaminathan, Chairperson, MSSRF.
