Nagpur: In an effort to offer a more luxurious experience to tourists in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR), the Corporation of Maharashtra Tourism Development (MTDC) plans to develop a resort that is equivalent to a five-star category or above in buffer land.
This project is located four kilometers from the Madnapur gate, close to Sindewahi-Chimur Road in the Chandrapur district.
That step, however, has not dropped well with wildlife lovers, which is afraid of the project will affect the corridor of the tiger.
A MTDC official told Tii, “Request for Proposal (RFP) has floated on July 20.
The last date to send offers is September 8.
Estimated project costs around RS30 Crore.
The selected private operator must complete the project within four years from the date of appointment.
The operator will get a 56-year concession period or a total of 60 from the date of appointment.
This period can be extended by 30 years.
“The official added that the State Revenue Department had provided land to MTDC for tourism projects six months ago.
“There are not many developmental activities towards the madnapur gate and therefore the project will not only increase tourism, but it will also produce the welfare and development of villages coexist,” he said.
As per RFP, MTDC will allow the construction of resorts equivalent to a five-star category or higher.
This will be a premium forest resort with a farmhouse-fork restaurant, swimming pool, garden, safari etc.
A total of 25 rooms will be allowed to be built.
Developers can plan more in accordance with Terms and conditions of TATR and MTDC.
It will be a resort like the second MTDC at TATR with the one previously near the Moharli gate.
This new project tends to be a hit when the madnapur gate is located in the buffer zone and is very close to the core area.
The majority of the resort is at the Moharli gate which is another advantage for new projects.
President Foundation Prakurti Dipak Dixit said, “The proposed project will create various types of problems.
There is a wildlife corridor from Madnapur to Navargaon to Bramhapuri.
This project might have an impact on this corridor because it is located in the buffer zone and close to the core area.” “This project Also violating wildlife protection measures and needs to be removed.
Already, the resort and other types of facilities are present in large numbers around TATR.
Therefore, there is no need for more projects like that, “he said.
MTDC officials, however, put aside the threat to wildlife corridors or TATR.
According to the RFP norm, Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ) will take effect for this project.
Therefore, developers must comply with all the norms.
