MU can delay the code dress policy

Mangaluru: The Committee formed by Mangalore University to overcome controversy related to scarf vs saffron shawl on campuses, can delay issuing comprehensive policies because this problem is in the High Court.
The trial is scheduled for next week where a student has submitted a petition that challenged the government’s college action in Udupi.
MU Deputy Chancellor PS Yadapadithaya told toi that the committee had met once and had made several suggestions.
“However, we will not officially come up with a policy because the related scarf is in the High Court.
MU will further modify the policy based on court results,” he said.
The committee led by Mangalore University Registrar Kishore Kumar CK was formed after a recent controversy around the scarf / saffron scarf in the region.
Committee members, including the Senior Principal of Private Universities, a syndicate member who is an advocate, Principal of High-English College, Principal Private College in Derlakatte, Amke Joseph President NM, Anasuya Rai, Principal, University College Mangaluru and others other.
Yadapadithaya said the committee has provided various suggestions about how problems can be handled at the level of college each as soon as early.
Panel members said the committee had met and discussed various aspects of ongoing controversy.
“We will not make a direct decision because the problem is waiting for HC.
Also, the government has proposed to come up with separate guidelines on the same thing,” said the member.
As per the previous plan, the advice of the Committee will be submitted to the Academic Council and then approved at the Syndicate meeting, which will be shared with all universities.
“We want a college campus to be free from controversy,” said Yadapithaya.
