Mangaluru: With the endless controversy of the use of headscarves and shawls at the college campus, Mangalore University plans to compile broad guidelines and will soon establish a committee that will announce general policies for all constituent colleges to make their own clothing code.
-Chancellor PS Yadadithaya said on Friday that the committee would be asked to make suggestions about how the problem could be handled at their respective college level.
He said academic activities – and not political or religious intervention – must take the center on campuses.
“Suggestions made by the Committee will be submitted before the Academic Council and Syndicate.
After the two institutions give approval, the guidelines will be distributed with constituent universities,” Deputy Chancellor, by saying the purpose of this exercise is to prevent future controversy.
VC explained that the university would not interfere in deciding the color or style or uniform design and said it was handed over to each college management.
Colleges must reach the code by applying a broad university guideline and the code may not lead to unnecessary controversies.
