MU will reduce the cost of college transfer: VC

Mangaluru: P S Yadapitithaya, Deputy Chancellor, University of Mangalore, said that the university would reduce the cost of college transfer that a student had to pay while replacing their college, in the middle of the course.
Current costs are high and many who cannot afford it, he said.
The proposal was discussed during the third academic council meeting held on Friday.
Shankar Bhat P, First Class Principal, Kanyana, has written to Yadapadithaya, that a student pays a steep fee to get an objection certificate, every time they turn to other colleges in the middle of the course.
“This is an economic burden on parents, who find it difficult to buy it.
Therefore it must be removed,” he said.
Discussing this issue, Yadapadithaya said that at this time a Mangalore University student paid the cost of Rs 3,000, and a student from another university, to receive a ticket to college under Mangalore University, had to pay Rs 2,300.
“I understand this steep.
We will reduce costs, so students are not burdened,” he said.
Affiliates to colleges discussed during meetings, affiliates to various colleges are discussed.
Yadapadithaya observed that many universities, especially those who were not paid, which requested a reduction in student intake.
Some universities have also filed canceling courses that have no takers.
He also asked the college inspection committee not to refuse the demand for government universities requesting additional intake.
“This must be encouraged,” he said.
Another agenda discussed included, permission to start the Supreme Court in the Sanskrit course at Canara College; Recall laws to recognize college affiliated Mangalore University as a research center; Regulations for certificates, diplomas and postgraduate diploma programs and proposals to change the syllabus of undergraduate journalism.
