SRINAGAR: PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti remained undecided on her involvement at PM Narendra Modi’s June 24 all-party assembly on J&K as the Union Territory government on Sunday introduced her maternal uncle Sartaj Madni and aide Naem Akhtar out of detention.
Mehbooba is reportedly reluctant to dedicate himself into the assembly despite her party’s political issues committee signalling that it desires her to become a part of this.
The National Conference-led People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration, where PDP is part, is building on Monday afternoon to have a call about the Union home ministry’s own invitation.
Mehbooba’s indecision comes from the schedule for the interview, a PDP officer stated.
“Delimitation and elections at J&K aren’t our priorities at this time.
Prior to convening a conversation on those issues, the Centre must have obtained some confidence-building steps.
A last decision on if PDP will be a part of these talks will be removed following the Gupkar alliance suits,” he explained.
Unofficially, the components of this five-party Gupkar alliance — such as the Left — are also believed to be keen about linking the assembly.
“We essentially don’t have any choice except to fulfill the PM for its very first political discourse because the exceptional standing of J&K was nullified on August 5, 2019,” a leading functionary of this alliance said on Sunday.
The Union home ministry has invited 14 governmental functionaries out of J&K into the meeting using the PM.
The list comprises Srinagar MP Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah, both former CMs, moreover Mehbooba, CPM state secretary Younus Tarigami and Apni Party chief Altaf Bukhari.
The J&K delimitation commission headed by a retired high court judge includes Farooq and 2 mature NC coworkers.
