New Delhi: The equity index began SAMVAT 2078 on positive records on Thursday with Sensex and Nifty registered profits in all sectors.
Sensex BSE 30-Share soared 296 points or 0.49 percent to close at 60,068; While the wider NSE rose 88 points or 0.49 percent to settle 17,917.
The market carries out a special one-hour trading session every year in Diwali to mark the beginning of the new Hindu calendar year.
It is believed that Muhurat’s trade brings prosperity and wealth throughout the year.
The top gainers in the sensex package including M & M, ITC, Bajaj Auto, L & T, Bank Box and Sun Pharma with their shares rose as much as 3.13 percent.
While ICICI Bank, Ultra Cemco, Cat Asia and Dr.
Reddy are the only slow down to 0.69 percent.
On the NSE platform, all green finished sub-indices with nifty media, Bank PSU and Auto received as much as 1.48 percent.
The two indices closed the SAMVAT 2077 Hindu calendar with star profits.
Sensex rose 16,133.94 points or 36.97 percent, while Nifty surged 5,048.95 points or 39.50 percent.
