MUHS five-year plan to have special schemes for Vid

Nagpur: The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) is preparing its five-year perspective plan for 2022-27.
An important meeting of the MUHS authorities and academics from the health education field in Vidarbha was held recently.
Several geographical and population-based schemes should be implemented in the next five years, doctors said.In-charge vice-chancellor of the university Dr Nitin Karmalkar said special plans and concessions would be laid down in the university master plan for Vidarbha.
“For this, the process of starting a new college should be easy.
Efforts should be made to provide immediate healthcare to patients in rural and tribal areas.
The regional centres of the University will be strengthened administratively and research-wise,” said Dr Karmalkar.Management council member Dr Rajesh Gondhalekar said special concessions should be given to start short-term and capacity colleges in rural areas.
“Vidarbha has a large number of rural and tribal population.
Courses creating health manpower for these people should be encouraged,” he said.
Senate member Dr Kishor Malokar said the university needs to start short-term courses in various disciplines.Dean of medical faculty Dr Sachin Mumbare said the suggestions received from various faculties and departments will be considered positively by the university.
“As the comprehensive plan of the university is for a period of five years, appropriate changes will be made in it by studying the social and geographical conditions.
If there are any suggestions and feedback, they will be sent to the appropriate committee,” he said.
Those having any feedback or suggestions regarding the university’s comprehensive plan may email them to planning@muhs.ac.in.Former GMCH Nagpur dean Dr Sajal Mitra focused on simplifying the affiliation process and promoting research for the next five years.“Permanent affiliation is must for colleges.
The process of affiliation should be in stages.
